Hawks History
Rotherham Hawks Basketball Club was funded in 1994 by head coach Iain Greenhough
The Hawks first entered the National League in 1999 with an under 16’s team that finished 2nd in their conference.
We currently have about 110 members at all ages.
We have teams at Rookie, U11, U12, U13s, 16s , U18 and Seniors entered in to various leagues including
National League at some levels
The younger and newer members play in the Central venue league which allows for development of all players.
Our U18/Senior team is entered into the Sheffield and District league played at English institute of Sport .Sheffield
The most notable Hawk to date is Ian Stringer who moved on from the Hawks to take up a 4 year scholarship at college in America.
The clubs long term goal is to have teams entered at all age levels of the national league.
Club Development
Rotherham Hawks are focused on developing the Club to help all our members to improve their skills and confidence.
Players from the Rookies at 5 years old up to the Seniors will be given the best coaching that the club can provide.
We have a commitment also to give all interested members to expand their knowledge and skills by making courses available for coaching, refereeing and table officials.
Our long term plan is to have teams at all ages in the National league, competing at the highest level for silverware.
We have a very dedicated committee that put in hours and hours of their time to ensure that Rotherham hawks Basketball Club continue to grow, along with great support from parents and family of the players.
